Dictaphone - smart mode
In this mode of dictation, simply say a few things that you want in a letter, and i-scribe will polish the output. It's just like a skilled secretary might clean up your words and create a well-crafted letter.
How to Use Smart Dictation in i-scribe
In this video, we demonstrate how to use the Smart Dictation feature in iScribe. Smart Dictation is ideal when you want to simplify your dictation process—simply say a few words, and iScribe will convert it into a polished letter, much like having a skilled secretary refine your draft. Here’s how it works:
Step-by-Step Guide:
0:19 – Selecting Smart Dictation:
To choose Smart Dictation, click on the Dictation Smart option at the bottom of the screen. If you’d like, you can remove other output types to focus solely on Smart Dictation.
0:35 – Setting Smart Dictation as Default:
If you prefer Smart Dictation as your default option, go to Templates, select Dictation Smart, and remove other outputs. Your default output for all patients will now be Smart Dictation. This default setting can be changed anytime.
Example Workflow:
1:03 – Creating a Letter: Start dictating naturally, as shown in the example. For instance:
- “Book Gary for surgery and give him drops for his abrasion.”
- “Thanks for sending Gary. He has cataracts and is scheduled for surgery. He also has a corneal scratch, which will heal with drops.”
i-scribe will transform this into a structured letter, adding sections like "Diagnosis" and "Plan," and refining language to sound more professional. The letter may include formal phrases like “Dear Colleague” and a clearer layout.
Key Features of Smart Dictation:
1:52 – Automatic Refinement:
i-scribe interprets casual dictation and presents it in a more polished, clinical format. For example:
- Casual input: “Gary's got pretty bad cataracts…”
- Smart Dictation output: “Upon examination, the patient has cataracts and has been scheduled for surgery.”
2:44 – Flexibility:
Smart Dictation is best when you want to produce a letter quickly without being overly specific about the wording. If you need more precise language, consider using the Verbatim Dictation option, which has its own dedicated tutorial video:
