Why do I get a message "your password has been used in a breach" when I create a new i-scribe account?

I'm trying to set a password for my new i-scribe account, but it's not being accepted. Why is this?聽

This is a security feature, not a cause for alarm. Akuru checks new passwords against third-party databases of passwords exposed in historical breaches across the internet.

If your chosen password appears in any of those databases, you'll be prompted to choose a different one to keep your account secure.

To create a password that will be accepted, please do the following:聽

  • Use a minimum of 12 characters
  • Include a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
  • Avoid common words, phrases, or slight variations of them
  • Ensure the password is completely unique (not used elsewhere)

We recommend using a passphrase (e.g. several unrelated words with variation), or a password manager to generate a secure password.
