The browser-extension sync isn't working
If appointments aren't syncing from your web EMR into i-consult, the usual fix is having i-scribe open in the same browser window — plus these checks on the extension and your login.
Appointments from your web-based EMR aren't appearing in i-consult. The single most common cause is that i-scribe isn't open in the same browser window as your EMR; the extension needs both. Work through the checks below in order.
This applies to web-EMR users who sync appointments via the Akuru browser extension. Once synced, only New Consult-mapped appointment types create episodes. For what the sync does at the i-consult end, see Sync your appointments from your EMR.
1. Is i-scribe open in the same browser window?
This is the fix in most cases.
Open i-scribe in a tab in the same browser window as your EMR.
Keep it open while you sync. The extension reads from i-scribe in that window.
Try the sync again.
i-scribe must be open in the same browser window as your EMR for the extension to sync. A separate window, a different browser, or i-scribe closed altogether will stop the sync from working.
2. Is the extension up to date?
An out-of-date extension can fail to sync.
Confirm the Akuru browser extension is installed and pinned in Chrome.
Make sure it's updated to the latest version.
Reload your EMR tab after updating.
3. Are you logged in to i-consult?
The sync needs an active i-consult session.
Confirm you're logged in to i-consult.
If your session has expired, log back in and retry the sync.
4. Are you on the correct EMR page?
The extension reads appointments from the right page in your EMR.
Open the appointments / schedule page in your EMR, the one the extension reads from.
Give the page a moment to finish loading.
Run the sync from there.
Installing and configuring the extension itself is part of the browser-extension product. For install and connection problems with the extension, see the browser-extension troubleshooting articles: "No patient loaded" and patient name mismatch warnings and The extension can't see my i-scribe or EMR tab.
Still not syncing?
If i-scribe is open in the same window, the extension is current, you're logged in, and you're on the right EMR page:
- Reload both the EMR tab and i-scribe, then retry.
- Confirm the appointment types you expect are mapped to New Consult (see Sync your appointments from your EMR).
- If it still fails, contact Akuru support with the date range you're trying to sync.
